2025 Regenerative Organic Milestones: Coconut, Lime & Plantain—What’s Next in 2026
This year, we deepened our commitment to regeneration:
We collected 2,986 tons of fruit (dragon fruit, passion fruit, banana, mango, coconut, pineapple) from over 673 smallholder farmers and 3 cooperatives Cooperativa SM Sacaclí R.L.
🌿 We expanded soil restoration practices: cover cropping, intercropping, compost application, and living barriers.
🌱 Farmers reported improvements in soil structure and fruit quality.
🍃 And — we are thrilled to share a milestone:
Coconut, Lime, and Plantain are now officially Regenerative Organic Certified® (joining banana, pineapple, and mango).

🍌 Bananas (Gros Michel Heirloom variety) Rich in resistant starch, these bananas act as natural prebiotics, feeding the gut microbiome and supporting the brain–gut connection. For today’s wellness consumers, that translates into foods that improve digestion, energy balance, and long-term health. Read more
🥥 Coconuts
Known for their healthy fats and hydration benefits, coconuts fuel wellness products from plant-based beverages to functional oils. They’re also part of a farming system that reflects innovation and care. Farmers use living fences, such as planting jocote trees around coconut groves. These trees attract birds, offering them an alternative food source, which helps protect young coconuts from damage. Read more
Meet the Farmer: Manesio Mercado Ganda
In La Concepción, Nicaragua, one of those stewards is Manesio Mercado Ganda, an 88-year-old dragon fruit farmer and one of the founding members of the Panama Cooperative. He began cultivating organic dragon fruit at 35. Today, 45 years later, some of his plants are still producing fruit. That kind of longevity doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from patience, from knowing the land, and from refusing to compromise on quality.
“My hope is that our cooperative continues to grow, so that more families here have the chance to build a better future.” — Manesio Mercado Ganda
🌎Discover the Journey of Our Regenerative Organic Certified® Coconut Products!
Our Regenerative Organic Certified® bananas are grown in the nutrient-dense soil of Northern Nicaragua. Our farmers use 100% regenerative organic farming techniques, drawing down atmospheric carbon into the soil to cool the earth. Additionally, legumes are planted around the plants to protect them and infuse nitrogen into the soil during their life cycle. As part of an agroforestry system, coffee and many other species of fruit trees and native hardwoods are planted to increase biodiversity and diversify our growers’ incomes.
Regenerative Practice of the Month: Intercropping & Agroforestry, Cover Cropping, and Composting
🌿 Intercropping & Agroforestry We grow complementary crops together, such as coconut groves with jocote and banana trees. This creates natural shade, reduces wind erosion, improves soil moisture, and encourages biodiversity, producing stronger, more resilient fruit.
🌱 Cover Cropping We plant species that hold soil through rainy seasons and fix nitrogen naturally. Cover crops reduce erosion, keep soil temperatures stable, and increase organic matter.
♻️ Composting Fruit waste from our processing facility becomes compost that returns nutrients and microbiology to the soil, building structure, increasing fertility, and improving water retention over time.
